1.0 Combat Input Innovations:

In Early Access 1.0, Bonfire Studios completely overhauled the core input handling engine to eliminate dropped inputs during chaotic multi-team skirmishes.

1. Input Buffering & Queue Normalization

Previous playtest builds used disparate input queues depending on which weapon was equipped. In 1.0, the input queue is normalized across every single Eternal and Echo item.

  • Input Buffering Slider: You can now adjust the length of the input queue window in Settings under Gameplay. If you play on higher latency, widening this window prevents missed ability activations.
  • Ability Interrupt Rules: Activating your Eternal 5th Ability no longer hard-interrupts ongoing weapon attacks or abilities. Weapon Swap still cancels basic attacks, enabling fluid animation canceling.

2. Essential Quality-of-Life Settings

Hold to Attack (Enabled)

Holding down Left Mouse Button (or Right Trigger on controller) continuously cycles through your weapon’s primary attack string without repeated clicking.

Single Input Per Scroll (Enabled)

If you bind item swaps or abilities to your mouse wheel, this toggle restricts each mechanical notch of the scroll wheel to register exactly one input, eliminating accidental double-swaps.

3. Controller vs Mouse & Keyboard

Arkheron was engineered from day one to support both Mouse & Keyboard and Twin-Stick Controllers:

  • Twin-Stick Controller: The right analog stick governs free-aim trajectory. Controller users benefit from refined targeting curves and DualSense haptic feedback on PlayStation 5.
  • Mouse & Keyboard: Provides absolute pinpoint accuracy for long-range skillshots (Penelope’s Looking Glass and Ravah’s Talonflight Crossbow).
